On 22nd October 2023, we held the inaugural u17 7’s Tournament in memory of Eoine Farrell.
Ten teams battled it out in both Maryland and Tang GAA grounds throughout the day in sunny but wet conditions. Our own Esker Gaels team played some great football but ultimately came up short in the quarter final against a strong Millmore Gaels side. There was epic drama on the day when Cill Oige and Moate All Whites were brought to penalties which added to the entertainment. Congratulations to Tubberclair who ran out winners of the Cup tournament after their win against finalists St Marys, Rochfortbridge.while Caulry were victorious in the shield final against a gallant Cill Oige side. There were Player of The Match trophies awarded for both the Cup and Shield Final. Well done to Caimin Dolan of Tubberclair and Simon O’Grady of Caulry who were rewarded for their fine displays when it mattered most. Everyone involved in Maryland/Tang GAA Club would like to thank all 10 teams who entered the competition and who made it such a huge success. The club would also like to thank the sponsors of the tournament; Councillor Tom Farrell, Moran’s Coaches, PJ Murphy and Eimear Farrell. Finally, many thanks to everyone who helped out on the day between car parking, providing refreshments as well as the referees and match officials. We look forward to seeing everyone back next year!
