Minor Division 3 Final

Esker Gaels 0-06 Coralstown/Kinnegad 2-06

Our Minor team took on Coralstown/Kinnegad in the Division 3 final in Lakepoint Park last Sunday. It was a sunny yet blustery day for football, played on the 3G pitch which would allow for a fast, free-flowing game. Coralstown/Kinnegad got off the mark first before Nathan Corcoran got Esker Gaels first point of the game. Coralstown/Kinnegad managed to follow up with a goal and a point which left 4 points between the sides. The amalgamation of Maryland/Tang and St Joesphs cut the lead back to one point before the half time break with scores from Adam Smyth, Nathan Corcoran, Ben Martin, and William Geraghty. The second half turned out to be a scrappy affair. Our lads battled hard in particular in midfield with Keelan Blom and Daniel Taplin working tirelessly hard to grab an all-important score. Our full back line including DJ Connaughton and Cathal Reilly defended well also to keep the dangerous full forward line at bay. The north-Westmeath outfit were beginning to put the pressure on with ten minutes left to play and managed to get a well-worked goal before tagging on three more points before the finish which left them county champions on a scoreline of 2-06 to 0-06. Our lads battled hard and can be proud of their performances the past two seasons since the merger of both underage clubs for this age group in 2023. We would like to thank Ronan Farrell, Kevin Dolan, Graeme Corcoran, and Kevin Dolan for their coaching and mentorship throughout the year. The team that lined out was as follows; Sean Elliffe, DJ Connaughton, Catha Reilly, Michael Cummins, Alex Johnson, Eoghan Fallon, Kyle McCormack, Daniel Taplin, Keelan Blom, Nathan Corcoran, William Geraghty, Eoin Conlon, Adam Smyth, Owen Tandy, Ben Martin, Tristan Montgomery, Dylan Weir Norris, Rafael Barros, Gabriel Barros, Dylan Drake.
