Coralstown/Kinnegad 2-7 Esker Gaels 1-7
Hard luck to our U17s who lost to an injury time goal tonight in Kinnegad. An early Daniel Taplin goal gave the away side a 1-2 to 0-4 advantage at half time.
This lead was extended to 1-4 to 0-4 by the three-quarter mark but the home team got the lifeline of a goal to level the game. A tit-for-tat battle ensued thereafter, with extra time looking likely with the score tied at 1-7 each in injury time. However, the team in red got the decisive score late on when netting a second goal.
Hard luck to the Esker lads who put in a brave performance. Each player can keep their head held high and look to a Shield Final on Sunday week with New Forest Gaels.
Thanks to Coralstown/Kinnegad for hosting, with the floodlights adding to the atmosphere, and best wishes to them in the final. Thanks to referee Barry Pierce also for a good job on a feisty game.
