Maryland/Tang 1-11 Delvin/St Pauls 0-10
Our u19s put in a brilliant display on Saturday last to reach the Division Three County Final. After finishing third in the group stages, Maryland/Tang came up against a strong Delvin/St Pauls side away from home in Clonmellon. The lads got off to a great start right from the throw in when Shane Hanley used his power and strength to get through the Delvin/St Pauls defence to put the ball to the back of the net. This gave our lads a great platform for the remainder of the game. Some more excellent points from Adam Smith, Cian Rainey and Shane Hanley left us three points up at half time. The lads had a stiff breeze to their advantage in the second half and the lads made great use of this with some more fine scores from Shane Keenan and Hanley again. Cathal Reilly, Colm Seery and Senan McKiernan were immense in the full back line with their tigerish performances against a full forward line who were firing on all cylinders throughout the campaign. Man of the match performance from Kealan Blom at wing back was also a strong catalyst to victory. Even though Maryland/Tang led for the whole game, our lads still endured a nervy last 10 minutes where our defence had to put their bodies on the line. An excellent block from wing forward Ben Martin denied a definite goal chance in the dying minutes and showed the great commitment of this team and typified the work rate shown on the day. When referee Mick Murtagh blew the full time whistle, it left Maryland/Tang with four points to spare and qualified our lads to the county final where we will play Kilbeggan Shamrocks. The team on the day was as follows; Davy Marlow, Senan McKiernan, Colm Seery, Cathal Reilly, Keelan Blom, Daniel Taplin, Bobby Foxe, Kris Jonass, Shane Keenan, Ben Martin, Adam Smyth, Cian Rainey, Alex Johnston, Shane Hanley, Kyle Moran, Mark Seery, Oisin McDermott.
